Care: A small shoaling fish and one of the most common caught by anglers in the UK. Roach should not be kept in groups of less then five, although they will shoal with Rudd and Dace happily.
Feeding from the surface and bottom of the water they are omnivorous and need this reflected in their diet. Roach will take typical pond foods like pond sticks, but some plant life in the pond is important as well.
In good conditions Roach can breed in vast numbers so the potential population increase should be taken into consideration when purchasing.
