Maximum Size: 60cm
Preferred Water Conditions: Will acclimatize to a wide range of conditions. pH: 6.5-8.0
Temperature: Cold water-temperate between 2-20 deg C (34-78 deg F)
Care: Smaller sized chub are a shoal fish and should be kept in groups of 5 or more fish. As they mature they spend time alone or in small shoals of maybe two or three fish.
Adult Chub can be predatory so should not be kept in a pond with lots of small fish.
They will mainly feed on insect and invertebrate life in the pond, but will also take sinking and floating pond foods.
Typically a river fish in the wild, but due to angling they have been successfully introduced to many lakes where they have thrived.
They do need good water quality and high levels of oxygen.
