Description
Fish Name: Dace
Latin Name: Leuciscus leuciscus
Maximum Size: 35cm
Preferred Water Conditions: Will acclimatize to a wide range of conditions. pH: 6.5-8.0
Temperature: Cold water-temperate between 2-20 deg C (34-72 deg F)
Care: Dace in the wild are a river or stream fish preferring clear water with a gravel bottom, so this should be simulated as best as possible in there new home.
Ideally Dace would prefer a flow to the water, this also increases oxygen levels. Dace will feed on floating or sinking pond foods and they tend to dart up from underneath food and then return to the safety of deeper water.
As a shoal fish they should not be kept in groups of less than five, although they will shoal happily with Roach and Chub to make a mixed species shoal.
