Care: Rainbow Trout are originally from north America and were brought to the UK for the food and fishing industry. Now they are farmed and often the eggs are heat treated to ensure all the fish are female or sterile.
A member of the Salmon family they require very high water quality and oxygen levels.
As our Rainbow Trout are farmed they are used to taking sinking or floating pellets, but will still enjoy worms and insects as treats.
All Trout are prone to jumping and have the capability to leap four times their body length out of the water. So great care should be taken to ensure they can’t ESCAPE!
