Description
Fish Name: Rudd
Latin Name: Scardinius erythropthalmus
Maximum Size: 40cm
Preferred Water Conditions: Will acclimatize to a wide range of conditions. pH: 6.5-8.0
Temperature: Cold water-temperate between 2-20 deg C (34-72 deg F)
Care: The Rudd is an active shoaling fish that must be maintained in groups of five or more fish. Larger groups of Rudd will help to make each other feel more secure, on many occasions they have been seen shoaling with Orfe and other fish.
Rudd are capable of multiplying very quickly so are best suited to a larger pond so to accommodate the potential population increase.
They will eat most pond foods available in pet shops as well as insect and plant life in the pond.
